Many apologies to all my fans for not updating the blog this week. I’ve been running around like a course worker during the CP heat. Anyway, who wants to read about what errands I have to do before laaving?
I’m hitting the road this morning, hopefully at 10am. The plan is to get to St. Louis this evening. One of our Steel Citiies guys, Nick Jackson, has recently moved to the St. Louis area, and generously offered me a place to crash.
You’ll recognize Nick J at Nationals. He likes to parade around without his shirt on and I can’t say I blame him. Unlike the hairy beer gut sported by most autocrossers, Nick J sports what the gay folks refer to as a “swimmer’s body” and he evidently feels if you’ve got it, flaunt it. At Steel Cities, he is referred to as “the good looking Nick.”
Here’s the official Steel Cities lineup:
STX: Randy Pearson, Eric Coffman
BSP: Justin Rothermel
ESP: Sam Strano
ES: Nick Flynn
STS: Nick Jackson
In addition to that group, we’ve got some Steel Cities related folks we call our own:
AS: Karen Rafferty
STS: Mike Occhipinti
Randy Pearson arrived yesterday (he is running the Pro Finale) and reports that it is raining and the paddock area is in the grass. Oh, joy.
Despite the slow start, I’m hoping to do a better job updating the blog this year, so I hope you’ll stick around. I’ve got access to a digital camera, so hopefully I’ll be able to upload some action pictures from Topeka during the week. (By “action pictures” I don’t mean pictures of cars on course - I mean the really interesting stuff, like pictures of drunk people stumbling around Team Blenderblaster, decorated golf carts, and the crowd of cars parked outside of Baby Dolls. The important stuff.
Hopefully, I’ll have an update from St. Louis tonight.
Nick, you better get a picture of the “effeminate” sports bar that is right by the Missouri? border.
The Pink Galleon?
Man, you are going to hate me, but I only saw it at the last minute and tried to snap a photo from the moving car, and blinded myself with the flash.
No pic, but it is still there.
Just a thought…if Topeka isn’t entertaining enough:
